Navarro Research & Engineering, Inc. is recruiting for a Design Engineer in Grand Junction, CO.

Under general supervision, participates in planning, development, coordination, reviews and assessments of designs for engineering projects, including basic organization of design team, concepts, format of calculations, selection of equipment standards, system design, and preparation of plans and specifications.
Performs remedial investigations and feasibility studies to determine and outline projects.
Prepares drawings, cost estimates and engineering texts.
Prepares and inspects plans.
Provides field support for ongoing construction activities.
Assists in providing assessments of work scope, potential safety problems and special design considerations.
Assists in the preparations of estimates on phases of projects or proposals.
Maintains knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performs assigned duties in a

May train and mentor more junior staff.
Bachelor's degree in engineering. Civil, Geotechnical, Mechanical, or Environmental engineering degree is preferred. At least 2 years of professional experience required. Ability to eventually pursue future Professional Engineering registration is preferred.
Broad understanding of engineering principles, concepts and techniques with knowledge of environmental regulations and local utility codes.
Working knowledge and experience in earthwork, geotechnical, hydraulic, hydrology and land development design is preferred.
Skill and ability to perform complex professional tasks independently with little instruction.
Ability to work within established policies and procedures, using independent judgment and ingenuity.
Ability to train and mentor more junior staff.
Level of language skills, mathematical skills, written and verbal communication skills, reasoning ability and computer skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
Working hands on experience with Microsoft Project, AutoCad, Civil 3D, HEC, HMS,
HEC RAS, WaterCad, EPAnet, and other similar software is a plus.
