Provide primary technical and site management support for Task 103 projects. Task duties will include technical report writing, review of technical reports, planning and directing data collection projects, performing data evaluation, performing annual site inspections, evaluation of remedy system performance for a range of sites. Assisting with project budding and scheduling, oversight of field activities. Requires routine communication with multiple client points of contact to develop expectations and communicate plans, progress, and results.
Expected to act independently and provide technical insight and support on behalf of the LM mission to fulfill post closure responsibilities and ensure the future protection of human health and the environment.
Responsible for schedule and budget development and management for assigned sites and projects.
High level of safety awareness and ability to execute work safely, lead by example, and contribute to a safe working culture.
The ideal candidate will function as a subject matter expert on supervising, planning, assessment, and reporting on issues related to uranium mill tailings disposal cell performance and groundwater flow and contaminant plume migration at DOE Legacy Management sites.
Working with coworker subject matter experts, applies principles of hydrology, chemistry, physics, biology, and mathematics to determine the nature and extent of groundwater contamination and select remedies for large scale remedial projects.
Meets with DOE clients and stakeholders to review status of projects and plan work.
Plans, coordinates, and controls work to ensure proper implementation of procedures and to meet project milestones; analyzes problems and opportunities, identifies key tasks and critical steps, establishes contingency plans and establishes priorities.
Ensures that all site activities comply with established policies and procedures.
Supports other activities as assigned.
Bachelor degree in Environmental or Physical Science, or equivalent (geology, geochemistry, hydrogeology, etc.)
Knowledge of fundamental principles, concepts, and techniques in the coordination of environmental projects/programs, including environmental regulations, budgetary functions, and matrix management systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of principles, concepts, and techniques in geology, hydrogeology, and environmental remediation, or equivalent relevant technical subjects.
Demonstrated ability to interpret a range of strategic requirements and develop and execute plans to satisfy them..
Demonstrated experience in the evaluation and analysis of environmental data, work plan development, and written analysis and presentation of data.
Ability to work independently and accommodate the potential for shifting priorities in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Excellent communication and writing skills.
Experience working with government clients, multiple governmental agencies, regulators, and stakeholders.
Excellent safety and quality awareness.
Experience effectively presenting information on technically complex subjects to a variety of internal and external audiences.
Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required.
